Edward Cullen New Moon

New Moon is a romantic fantasy movie made in 2009.  It is based on the novel, New Moon, written by author, Stephenie Meyer.  It is the sequel to Twilight, and is followed by Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.  The film is directed by Chris Weitz, and the major stars of the film are Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, Kristen Stewart, as Bella Swan, and Taylor Lautner, as Jacob Black.  The movie was released on November 20, 2009 and the midnight screening of the film beat box office records with $26.3 million.  It also broke records for biggest day domestic gross with $72.7 million. 

The film begins with Bella Swan waking up from a dream on her eighteenth birthday in which she has seen herself as an old woman.  She thinks about how her boyfriend, Edward Cullen, is a vampire who has stopped aging at 17 years old, and she doesn't want to get old.  The adoptive family of Edward, the Cullens, decide to give Bella an eighteenth birthday party.  While she is opening a gift, Bella has a paper cut, and as a result, Edward's brother, Jasper, begins to lust after her blood and attempts to kill her.  Edward then decides that he is a danger to her, as is his family, so he ends his relationship with Bella and the Cullen family moves away from their home in Forks, Washington. 

Edward and Bella are both heartbroken and depressed in their separate locations.  Bella's father, Charlie, wants to send her to her mother due to her depression, but Bella decides to spend time with her friends instead.  She soon learns that when she engages in thrill-seeking activities, she will see visions of Edward.  She also begins to get close to Jacob Black, who helps her to get over the pain of losing Edward.  Bella learns that Jacob is actually a werewolf.  His tribe is on patrol for Victoria, who is a vampire who wants to kill Bella to seek revenge for the death of her mate, James. 

Due to a misunderstanding, Edward believes that Bella has died when cliff-diving.  He is heartbroken over her suicide, so he goes to Italy in order to get the Volturi, a coven of vampire royalty, to kill him.  Fortunately, Alice, Edward's sister, and Bella rush to save Edward in Italy.  They get there in time, but the Volturi also decide that Bella can be a danger to them since she is a human that knows of her existence.  Therefore she must either be killed or be turned into a vampire.  Alice steps in and shows them a vision form the future in which Bella has changed into a vampire.  Once they get back home, Edward tells Bella the truth:  that he has always loved her, and he only left because he worried for her safety and thought it was best for her.  The Cullens vote for Bella to be transformed into a vampire, and Edward and Jacob are not happy.  Edward tells Bella that she can wait until she graduates and Alice can transform her, or he can transform her himself if she will marry him.
